In my opinion Marshawn Lynch was Wrongfully Arrested For DUI in an Undrivable Shelby GT500
The officers may have over reached on the arrest of Marshawn Lynch. Considering he was asleep and in an undrivable vehicle.
The Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl winning running back Marshawn Lynch is facing multiple charges, including suspicion of DUI, after being arrested in Las Vegas on Tuesday.
Suspicion of DUI? I guess, they are assuming he was driving under the influence at some point in the night.
According to an arrest report, the 36-year-old was taken into custody after police found him asleep behind the wheel of a Shelby GT500.
During the arrest, officers noted that Lynch’s car was in an “undriveable condition.” Not only was it missing the front wheel and rim on the driver’s side of the car, but the front tire on the passenger side had also almost fallen off. The cars undrivable condition can be seen in the first video below.
When officers found Lynch they “observed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle, his person and his breath along with bloodshot, watery eyes.” Despite those observations from police, Lynch stated that he
“was not drinking and he does not do drugs,”
“he stole the vehicle”.
One of the officers involved in the arrest was wearing a body cam and you can see that footage below.
At the beginning of the first video (below) you can clearly see Marshawn Lynch is sleeping in a car that is missing it’s front drivers side tire. He’s definitely not planning to drive away while sleeping.
In the second video you hear Marshawn Lynch ask why he’s in trouble.
“What is the problem? The car’s not on, the car’s not going.”
I’m no expert but Marshawn Lynch doesn’t appear to be drunk in this video to me. He is talking to the officers without slurred speech. He wasn’t the most respectful, but not drunk. Listen in the video below.
Officers eventually physically removed Lynch from the car and placed him under arrest.
Lynch is now facing a total of four charges from the arrest, including DUI, driving an unregistered vehicle, failure to stay in his lane and failure to surrender.

Marshawn Lynch, whose bail was set at $3,381, now has a court date scheduled for December. According to Lynch’s attorneys, Richard A. Schonfeld and David Z. Chesnoff, their client shouldn’t have been charged with DUI.
“Marshawn was not pulled over for a DUI, Rather the vehicle was safely parked and not in operation.
We are confident that when all evidence is presented, this will not be a DUI under Nevada law. Marshawn appreciates and is thankful for everyone’s concern and support.”Attorney for Marshawn Lynch
The arrest came just one day after the Seahawks announced Lynch would be serving as a special correspondent for the team this season, a role that will have him producing “creative content for a variety of projects.”
I have to agree with the attorneys on this one. Lynch wasn’t driving and as the arresting officers themselves noted, the Shelby Gt500 was in an undrivable condition.
