Unusual True Stories – The Haunted Elsa Doll from Frozen
Gifting an Elsa Doll for Christmas was an easy decision.
In the months leading up to Christmas of 2013. Emily Madonia’s daughter was on the verge of driving her up the wall with the movie “Frozen”.
Her daughter, like many other little girls at the time, loved watching the movie Frozen, she’d watch it back to back if Emily would let her. When she wasn’t watching Frozen, she was singing songs from the movies soundtrack.
Naturally when Christmas rolled around gifting her daughter an Elsa doll, who is the main character in the movie Frozen, was an easy decision. Emily knew the doll was the perfect gift for her daughter.
As expected the Elsa Doll was the Perfect Christmas Gift, until it wasn’t!
The Elsa doll would recite phrases from the movie and even sing the song “Let it Go” in English when a button on the dolls chest was pressed.
As expected, her daughter fell in love with the Elsa doll and for 2 years carried the doll with her wherever she went. For 2 years Emily heard every phrase the doll spoke hundreds if not thousands of times.
The family started to notice this doll may be a little unusual
In mid 2016 the doll started doing something unusual. Sometimes it would speak in English as it had always done, other times it would say its phrases and sing its songs in Spanish. Which for more than 2 years it had never done, not even once.
Emily searched the doll for a language button to explain why the Elsa doll was suddenly bilingual but there wasn’t one to be found on the doll.
The Haunted Elsa Doll Doesn’t Need its Batteries Replaced
It was around this time the family realized, unlike the other dolls her daughter owned, the batteries never seemed to need replacement in the Elsa doll. Even though it was played with more than any other toy in the house.
By the time Christmas of 2016 was drawing nearer Emily Madonia’s daughter had outgrown the Elsa doll from Frozen. The doll spent most of it’s time in her daughter’s room with its power switched off.
The fact its power was off didn’t seem to bother the doll, which would talk and sing whenever it chose and in whichever language it wanted to use regardless of it being turned off.
The Family had enough of the Haunted Doll, but the Doll hadn’t had enough of the Family
In December 2019, the family decided they had enough of this haunted Elsa doll singing with the power off all the time. It was time to get rid of this haunted doll and Emily threw the doll in the trash.
Two weeks later, to the surprise of Emily, her daughter found the doll inside of a bench in their living room. Emily stated..
“The kids insisted they didn’t put it there, and I believed them because they wouldn’t have dug through the garbage outside”
After being thrown away by the family, the Elsa doll completely stopped operating in English and began to only speak and sing in Spanish.
They Throw The Elsa Doll away For a Second Time
Once again, the family attempted to throw out the Elsa doll. Now feeling confident something unusual was going on, Madonia’s husband double-bagged the haunted Elsa doll and placed it at the very bottom of the garbage can to be taken away by the garbage truck.
The family went on vacation and forgot about the doll knowing there wasn’t anyway it could come back again. When they returned from vacation, their daughter discovered her old friend outside leaning against the corner of their house.
At this point Emily Madonia posted a serious message about the Haunted Elsa Doll on her social media page. Her post states…
“Ok guys, seriously, we need help. To recap for those of you who have not been following our Elsa doll saga, Mat threw it away weeks ago and then we found it inside a wooden bench,” Madonia wrote on Facebook.
“Okay….so we were weirded out and tightly wrapped it in its own garbage bag and put that garbage bag INSIDE another garbage bag filled with other garbage and put it in the bottom of our garbage can underneath a bunch of other bags of garbage and wheeled it to the curb and it was collected on garbage day. Great, right? We went out of town, forgot about it. Today Aurélia says, ‘Mom, I saw the Elsa doll again in the backyard.’
When asked if she believed a prank was being pulled, Madonia said..
“The doll has some marker on her from my daughter coloring over the years, so I know the doll that reappeared was the original and not a replacement. … Most logical thinkers believe it’s a prank, but I don’t understand how or when it was done, especially because the garbage truck had taken it away.”
In a final attempt to rid themselves of the haunted doll Elsa was mailed, without a return address, to a family friend in Minnesota.
“If the doll comes back, I might have to open my mind to some of the more supernatural solutions”
Luckily for Madonia, the doll was received by her Minnesotan friend Chris Hogan who shared a final update on his Facebook.
“… and now for the rest of the story. She made it to Minnesota, and is taped to the brush guard of my Jeep. If anything weird happens I’m welding her into a steel pipe and sinking it in Lake of the Woods,” Hogan wrote.
As of now the doll seems to be content living with Chris Hogan in Minnesota and has not returned to the Madonia house.
However in October of 202 Emily Madonia was quoted by KPRC2 news as saying…
“No, she hasn’t come back. We have had our fair share of weird things happening around the house though. Like doors opening and closing by themselves and lights/tv turning on and strange stuff like that. So it’s been interesting. But not the doll at least.”
Maybe when they mailed the doll to Chris Hogan in Minnesota the spirit vacated the doll and decided to stay in the Madonia home instead. This world is very unusual and we don’t understand everything about it, so anything is possible.
