People Are Disgusting 1 in 5 adults admit to pissing in the pool! Swimming in Piss, pissing in the swimming pool.

Swimming in Piss!

The last time you spent a day lounging happily by the pool. Do you remember if your eyes were red, itchy & burning after a dip in the seemingly clean water? I hate to inform you, you were more than likely swimming in urine.

A survey conducted in 2012 surprisingly revealed 1 out of 5 people “admit” to pissing in the pool. Unfortunately, if 1 in 5 people admit to pissing in the pool, we can safely assume the numbers are actually much higher.

Urine mixed with Chlorine Turns Toxic!

According to a study published in the journal Environmental Science & Technology. Chlorine combined with urine creates harmful chemicals such as cyanogen chloride (CNCl) and trichloramine (NCl3). Two toxic chemicals which can also be found in potentially fatal chemical weapons.

Cyanogen Chloride (CNCl)

CNCl can cause choking and irritant symptoms, and when inhaled, the cardiovascular system, pulmonary system and the central nervous system can be affected, posing potential fatality.

Trichloramine (NC13)

NCl3 is related to acute lung injury through exposure to chlorine-based disinfectants. This yellow, oily, pungent-smelling and explosive liquid is most commonly encountered as a byproduct of chemical reactions between ammonia-derivatives and chlorine.

The researchers added that more than 90 percent of uric acid in swimming pools is human urine. In 2013, Medical News Today reported a study from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention citing that E. coli is present in more than 50 percent of all public swimming pools in the U.S.

According to the CDC “When pee and chlorine mix in the pool, there is less chlorine available to kill germs.”

So, the next time you’re swimming in a pool and you’re eyes begin feeling itchy and turn red. It’s not from chlorine, it’s the result of toxic chemicals that have been created due to mixing chlorine with a strangers or if you are one of the 1 in 5 people pissing in the swimming pool, your own urine.

Have fun in those public pools. As for myself, I’ll be steering clear.
